A vision becomes reality

The union of jewelry and tools

In October 2021, I completed a one-month training course in Antwerp to become a diamond appraiser. Throughout this time, I always had a vision in mind: to combine a knife with a piece of jewelry. That vision has now become a reality, and I am delighted to present to you the first knife from this new line of mine.

The knife, as a multipurpose tool, has accompanied humanity since the Paleolithic era. Over time, the knife has evolved just as we humans have, transforming into an object of art, ritual, and personal adornment. In the 7th century B.C., so-called knife coins (a hybrid form between a tool and a coin) were used as currency in China. It was not until the 18th century that the knife became part of our traditional cutlery, which we know today as a table knife. Rarely has another cultural object in human history been as versatile as the knife, adapting to the circumstances at hand.

Mono Silver Folding Knife

In this elegant version, our “Mono” folding knife transforms into a unique knife for ladies and gentlemen. This elegant folding knife is crafted from a single piece of 925 sterling silver and features a blade made of wild Damascus steel. The centerpiece of this knife is the hand-set pavé surface of sapphires (2.36 carats, comprising a total of 78 sapphires) in a wide variety of yellow hues, which stretches across the handle and the back of the blade. Similar to classic jewelry, each individual sapphire on this knife is secured with multiple prongs. Perfect for the start of 2022, this technique marks the launch of a new and very elegant knife collection. Customer requests can be submitted at any time upon request at office@messermacher.at.
