This integral knife has been fitted with a dovetailed handle made from stabilised buckeye burl. The chestnut motif is echoed in the elaborate engraving by Franz Haas, which extends throughout the spine and the rivets. Leaves and fruit are highlighted in fine gold, while the background has been deep engraved and blackened.
