This knife is named after the hippopotamus tusk, which has been incorporated into the handle in a dovetail fit. Intricate engravings cover the hand guard, pommel, tang, and spine of the blade. The raised ornamentation is elegantly undercut and accentuated with 105 individual inlays of 18 ct fine gold.
