Handmade Leather Belts

Complete Your Look

Along with the wrist watch, the belt continues to be a mainstay among men's accessories. Whether you choose to keep it simple or make a statement, here a man can nonchalantly demonstrate his understanding of quality.

From cutting and punching to dyeing and stitching and polishing, our belts are made entirely by hand, as individual pieces for our shop or according to your wishes. We are happy to personalize your belt for you, with your initials or any design you wish.

Leather

Not all leather is the same. Depending on which part of the cowhide a piece comes from, its tensile strength varies. For our belts we exclusively use half hide without the lower-quality flank. From this we cut each individual strap parallel to the spine. Using this technique we aquire the most structurally sound piece of the hide for a belt that retains its shape and does not stretch out with daily use.

For those with unique tastes, we always have a selection of specialty leathers (shark, ray, reptiles) in stock for use as linings or for covering, or we can source them in your desired color— of course with all the necessary certificates and from reputable sources!

Hand stitching

Most of our belts are hand-sewn. We use the traditional saddler's stitch, which involves sewing with two needles and a sharp awl with a diamond-shaped cross-section. This not only creates the attractive diagonal pattern of the stitches but also results in an exceptionally durable seam. However, this type of sewing requires precision and practice, as even a single crooked stitch would stand out unattractively.

Punching

Punching refers to the process of decorating moistened leather by pressing stamps into it, often in combination with motifs that are carved into the leather and then raised into relief using special stamps (known as “bevelers”).
The technique of hand-stamping is time-consuming, as every stamp, no matter how small, must be applied individually while the leather retains the correct moisture content. However, this results in true works of art, ranging from minimalist border ornamentation to full-surface pattern “landscapes” with iridescent visual effects.

Dyeing Technique

Every piece we craft in our leather workshop is also individually hand-dyed. In addition to flat dyeing, there are several other impressive methods, such as block dyeing, in which the indented embossings are either fully or partially left undyed or dyed in a contrasting color.
Using a wiping technique, gradients with up to five different shades can also be achieved. Additionally, there is the option to highlight individual sections with special leather acrylic paints—there are no limits to your imagination!
